Ever woke up on a Saturday morning, had a bad hangover and craved for a bowl of Pho Ga? Thanks to this great-awesome-amazing-delicious- comfort soup, I got through a few hangover myself:) . However, Pho Ga is not only a cure for hangover, Its a truly good eat. Usually, it takes a long time to cook Pho. Thats why most people just chose the easy route is to go to a restaurant where Pho is served in 5 minutes after you order it ( dont give me wrong, I love that too). But this time, I want to bring this bowl of goodness home and prepare it myself. It might not be as good as the one at the restaurant, but its definitely healthier and good enough to satisfy my craving.
What you need:
Chicken broth ( how much will depend on how many servings)
Chicken ( i only used the breast but you are free to use whatever you like)
Spices: star anise, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, an onion ( i didnt have all of this so I just used what I had)
Let make this Pho:
In a small pot, boil the chicken with the chicken broth
While waiting for broth to boil, microwave or broil the spices for a minute or 2 till they are frargant. Put spices in a tea bag or this little thing I’m using and throw them in to broth pot
When broth starts boiling, skim the scum and turn heat to medium high or medium
Add in the onion as well
Add in the fish sauce ( I used 1 tbs for 1 serving), a few rock sugars, and 1 pinch of salt. Add more or less depends on your personal taste
Let it cook for about 20-30 minutes.
Remove the spices and onion
Take out the chicken ( should be cooked by now) and slice the chichen.
Get your pho noodles ready and some chopped green onions to garnish.
Now pour in that amazing broth and enjoy, Ah, you can use some hot chili sauce if you want it to be a little bit spicy. Who says I had a hangover? I just used that as an excuse to have Pho
